Avigail Manneberg

Avigail Manneberg is a Minneapolis-based artist and member of the Rosalux Gallery. She works in varied media, including painting, drawing, video, and performance. She asks questions about relationships of identity and place.

In her most recent work, Avigail examines the tension between places of grief and joy in a series of paintings using performance. Avigail’s previous work responds to the chaos experienced by those fleeing violent conflict. She says: “At a time of continual flux, my art grapples with national and cultural identity through the case study of my own history in relation to my home country of Israel.”

Avigail earned a  Bachelor in Design from the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem, and an MFA from the University of Minnesota. She teaches studio arts at the University of Minnesota, Carleton College, and the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.

Since 2009, Avigail has lived in Berlin for a cumulative total of three years. Her work during those sojourns was supported by fellowships from DAAD, the German Academic Exchange Service. During her time in Germany, Avigail studied at the University of the Arts.
